GENEVA, Ohio (AP) — Four-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson is bringing his expertise in training athletes to Spire Institute, a one-of-a-kind sports complex that will include a year-round residential academy.

Johnson, who started his own performance training center after retiring from track, announced his partnership with Spire on Wednesday. The world record holder at 400 meters, Johnson said he was drawn to Spire partly because of its facilities, which he said rival anything in the world.

Located 45 minutes from Cleveland, Spire includes 750,000 square feet of indoor facilities, outdoor turf fields and a 10-lane Olympic-sized pool. There are future plans for an academy with dormitories and an onsite hotel.
