KOSICE, Slovakia (AP) — Norway and Denmark advanced to the second round of the ice hockey world championship by winning their last group-stage matches Wednesday.
Anders Bastiansen scored a goal and added three assists to help Norway rout Austria 5-0 in Group C, and Denmark prevailed 3-2 in a penalty shootout over Latvia for its first victory in Group D.
Austria and Latvia will join Slovenia and Belarus to play a relegation round.
In remaining group matches Wednesday, the United States faces Sweden in Group C in Kosice, and defending champion Czech Republic plays Finland in Group D in Bratislava.
