FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Troy Dumais reached the final of the men’s 3-meter springboard competition at the USA Diving Grand Prix and secured a spot in the world championships.

Dumais reached Saturday’s springboard final with a semifinal score of 453.80.

Dumais scored 449.55 in Thursday’s earlier preliminary round. That score combined with half his cumulative score (724.12) from the USA Diving Winter National Winter Championships in February allowed him to qualify for worlds in July at Shanghai, China.

Fellow American Kristian Ipsen also reached Saturday’s springboard final and qualified for the world championships.
