Major construction activity continues on the $133 million Salmon Creek interchange project as crews install underground stormwater pipes, relocate fire hydrants, adjust sanitary sewer lines and do assorted grading, said Jeff Mize, spokesman for Clark County Public Works.

On the west side of Interstate 5, electrical work and preliminary installation of pervious concrete is underway at the Park & Ride under construction east of Fred Meyer, Mize said.

Utility work also is proceeding along Northeast 10th Avenue north of Northeast 134th Street and along Northeast 139th Street west of Northeast 10th Avenue.

In addition, a major change will begin in mid-May with one-way traffic using those two roads. Mize said it will improve safety in the construction area and trim four to six weeks from the schedule for improving Northeast 10th Avenue.

The couplet is expected to remain in place through August, although weather and other factors could affect that schedule.

On the east side of I-5, another major traffic change will begin Tuesday on Northeast 20th Avenue and Northeast 139th Street. Traffic will be limited to a single lane in each direction, and drivers should expect some backups and delays for several months.
