OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — An Olympia, Wash., man who admitted beheading a neighbor’s cat with a machete has pleaded guilty to first-degree animal cruelty.

A court-appointed lawyer for 30-year-old Dameon Ray Parker said Thursday that his client will enter an in-patient drug-treatment facility next week.

Thurston County Superior Court Judge Lisa Sutton set Parker’s sentencing for July 26. The Olympian reports he could face nine months in jail.
