ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton says he met with Minnesota Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf to discuss state funding of a new football stadium and that he hopes two remaining proposed sites are narrowed to one soon.
The Democratic governor said Friday he met with the owners the previous evening. He says he thinks there’s still time to get a stadium bill done in the two remaining weeks of the legislative session.
Vikings officials have been meeting in recent days with officials from Ramsey County and from Minneapolis to discuss the two potential stadium sites, one in Arden Hills north of St. Paul and the other at or near the Metrodome.
On Thursday, Hennepin County Board Chairman Mike Opat abandoned the idea of putting a stadium near Target Field.
