ISTANBUL (AP) — Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel bounced back by posting the fastest time in the third practice for the Turkish Grand Prix on Saturday, lining himself up perfectly for a fourth straight pole position attempt.
Seven-time champion Michael Schumacher was fractionally behind Vettel in the third and final practice ahead of qualifying later Saturday.
Vettel’s Red Bull teammate Mark Webber posted the third-best lap time.
In contrast to Friday’s rain-affected morning session that saw Vettel crash after taking a turn too wide, the Istanbul Park track was totally dried out as drivers profited from clear skies and sunshine.
F1 leader Vettel looked to be in good spirits as he was congratulated by team members while walking back into the paddock.
