Volcanoes win third straight

The Vancouver Volcanoes rolled to their third consecutive International Basketball League victory, defeating the West Coast Hotshots 123-97 Saturday at the O’Connell Center at Clark College.

Vancouver (3-1) led by just one after the first quarter, 25-24, but pulled away thanks to a 33-19 second-quarter advantage.

Andre Murray led the Volcanoes with 22 points on 8 of 11 shooting. Lawrence Blackledge added 20 points and five blocked shots.

The Volcanoes’ Alex Hartman had 18 points, Devin Uskoski had 17 points and eight rebounds, Antwan Williams had 15 points and eight assists, and Clifford White added 11 points.

The Hotshots’ Rashaad Powell led all scorers with 27 points. Brandon Adams added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Hotshots (3-2) are a traveling IBL team. They are playing a 17-game road schedule this season with stops upcoming in Phoenix and Edmonton.

The Volcanoes play back-to-back home games next weekend against the Olympia Reign on Saturday and the Oregon Waves on Sunday.
