Future soldiers honored at ice cream social

Northeast Hazel Dell — Future soldiers were honored at an ice cream social in Hazel Dell on April 30. More than 125 people attended the Our Community Solutes Future Soldiers event.

The Our Community Salutes Committee is made up of veterans, educators, community members and business leaders interested in recognizing young men and women entering the military. The social was an opportunity to meet future heroes and hear why they enlisted in the Army.

“I feel loved by the community and when I leave, I feel supported by my community,” said future soldier Mignon Parson from Washougal High School.

The following Clark County future soldiers were recognized during the event with a Youth Certificate Award and a military coin: Camas, Solomon Thornton; Hudson’s Bay, Jacob Woodhurst; Heritage, Bradley Luttrell, Taylor Roberts; Hockinson, Zachary Cole; Lewis and Clark, Jeffrey Snodgrass; Battle Ground, Kyle Dickerson, Jace Dorn, Shay Ireland, Timothy Sanders, William Sexton, Megan Seyller; Ridgefield, William Harris; Union, Kenneth Cheng; Prairie, Jason Gerstenberger; Skyview, Thomas Booker, Caimen Rohm; Washougal, Anthony Larson, Mignon Parson, Tad Shiluk; Woodland, Victoria Giese, Douglas Stenlund.
