LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — One-time Kentucky Derby favorite Uncle Mo is heading to a central Kentucky farm to deal with a lingering stomach problem.

Trainer Todd Pletcher says Monday the 3-year-old colt is being sent to WinStar Farm, about an hour east of Churchill Downs, so veterinarians can try to get a handle on Uncle Mo’s ailment.

Uncle Mo, the 2-year-old champion last year, was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal infection following his third-place finish in the Wood Memorial. He trained up to the Derby, but Pletcher scratched him due to health concerns less than 36 hours before the race.

Owner Mike Repole said the goal is to get Uncle Mo healthy. There is no timetable when he could return to the track.
