Talking Points: Goodbye Milton

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

The Seattle Times Mariners beat writer Geoff Baker posted this on Monday in his Mariners blog:

“There are going to be a lot of bad things said about Milton Bradley the baseball player these next 24 hours or so. And justifiably so, as his left field performance this past weekend and for much of the season, has been abysmal.

“His hitting wasn’t much better, either.

“But that’s baseball. It isn’t life. And in life, I can tell you that many people within and around the game are still rooting for Bradley to come out on top.

“It just can’t be the Mariners’ problem any longer.

“… that’s the thing with Bradley. It’s never been his fault.

“It’s unfortunate that it keeps coming to this. But one constant with Bradley and baseball is that he keeps having issues wherever he goes.”

Washington State’s Klay Thompson was evaluated as a potential lottery pick.

Washington’s Isaiah Thomas was told he’d be no better than a second-round pick.

Both college juniors confirmed Sunday they are staying in the NBA Draft pool.

A rough count of underclassmen who are coming out early was at 68 players in addition to 20 international players. There are only two rounds of the NBA Draft and two times 30 teams equals someone won’t be getting drafted.

We wish all the best for our Northwest connections, but we would have rather seen them on the hardwood for the Pac-12 season next year.
