ALBANY, Ore. (AP) — Funeral services will be held Saturday in Albany for an Oregon National Guard soldier who died in a non-combat incident in Iraq.
The Oregon Military Department says 25-year-old Andrew Lara of Albany will be buried at Willamette Memorial Cemetery.
Officials haven’t said exactly how he died. It was on a base on April 27 in Babil Province. Lara drove a mine resistant vehicle used to escort convoys. He was serving with F Company, 145th Brigade Support Battalion, attached to the 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Regiment.
