TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa Shock center Nicole Ohlde is retiring from the WNBA after a seven-year career, though she plans to play professionally overseas.
The 6-foot-5 Ohlde announced her decision Thursday. The 29-year-old former Kansas State star started with the Minnesota Lynx in 2004 and won a WNBA title with the Phoenix Mercury in 2009.
Phoenix traded Ohlde and a first-round draft pick to Tulsa last season in exchange for Kara Braxton. Ohlde played 12 games for the Shock and averaged 7.9 points and 3.8 rebounds.
Ohlde says her body “has felt worn down” the last couple of years and that she needed a break. She says she’s looking forward to a restful summer and spending time with her family.
