OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The state Agriculture Department renews its annual attack next month on spartina, an aggressive weed in saltwater estuaries that disrupts ecosystems.
The department says in the past eight years efforts have reduced the infestation from 9,000 acres to 12 acres.
KBKW reports workers will be digging, smothering or spraying spartina this summer in Grays Harbor, Willapa Bay, Hood Canal, Puget Sound, and the mouth of the Columbia River.
