TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A woman convicted in a fatal home-invasion robbery linked to an ad on Craigslist has been sentenced to more than 70 years in prison.
The Tacoma News Tribune reports that a Pierce County judge sentenced 22-year-old Amanda Knight on Friday, nearly a month after a jury convicted her of six crimes, including first-degree murder, in the April 2010 death of James Sanders at his Edgewood home.
Prosecutors say that Knight called Sanders, answering to an ad about a diamond ring he posted on Craigslist. When Knight and co-defendant Kiyoshi Higashi arrived at Sanders’ home, they tied up his wife and family. Higashi was sentenced to more than 100 years in prison for shooting Sanders after he struggled with the intruders.
Two other defendants in the case — Joshua Reese and Clabon Berniard — are awaiting trial.
