MORAINE, Ohio (AP) — Police in southwest Ohio say a homeless man was apparently crushed to death in a recycling truck that had picked up material from a shopping center’s recycling bin where he had crawled inside and fallen asleep.

Moraine police Sgt. Chris Selby tells The Dayton Daily News that pending the results from toxicology tests, their investigation shows Paul Wilder died Wednesday morning from injuries he suffered after he was picked up in the recycling truck.

The 44-year-old Wilder was found hours later in a pile of cardboard and other materials deposited at a Moraine recycling facility.

The Montgomery County coroner’s office says Wilder died from multiple blunt force injuries consistent with being crushed in the truck.

Selby says the toxicology test results will be available in four to eight weeks.
