HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — Justin Braun scored three goals and Chivas USA beat the New York Red Bulls 3-2 Saturday night for their third win in four games.
Braun scored his third goal in the 56th minute, tapping in a direct kick a couple of feet from the goal line to snap a 2-2 tie.
Before Sunday, the Red Bulls had only allowed three goals all season.
The loss snapped the Red Bulls’ four-game unbeaten streak, but they remained in first place in the Eastern Conference with 15 points.
Dwayne De Rosario tied the game on a penalty in the 35th minute. It was New York’s first success from the spot all season. Thierry Henry also scored for the Red Bulls. He and Rafa Marquez missed the team’s first two penalties this season.
