PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A MAX light rail train and a TriMet bus collided at a busy downtown intersection in Portland after witnesses said the bus apparently ran a red light.

The Oregonian reports the Tuesday morning crash caused brief traffic delays and minor injuries to several bus passengers.

TriMet spokeswoman Bekki Witt said the scene has been cleared and authorities are trying to determine what happened.

But witnesses told The Oregonian the train slammed into the bus after the bus drove through a red light.

One passenger on the MAX train, 49-year-old Kyle Dittmer, said he watched the light turn red and saw the bus continue to drive through the intersection as the train operator honked the horn three or four times.
