OTTAWA (AP) — Ottawa will host the women’s world hockey championships in 2013. Canada last hosted the tournament in Winnipeg in 2007.

Ottawa won the bid as host city ahead of Kamloops, British Columbia, and St. John’s, Newfoundland.

The United States is ranked No. 1 in the world after beating Canada in overtime to win gold last month in Zurich.

Canada has won nine world titles and the United States has taken four, including the last three.

The women’s tournament will be held in Burlington, Vt., next year.
