ZURICH (AP) — FIFA’s president says world soccer’s governing body will interview a whistleblower from Qatar’s 2022 World Cup bid over allegations that bribes were paid to African voters.

Sepp Blatter says British newspaper The Sunday Times has agreed to bring its source to Zurich to meet senior FIFA officials.

The whistleblower claims that FIFA executive committee members Issa Hayatou and Jacques Anouma were paid $1.5 million to vote for Qatar.

Blatter says FIFA is “anxiously awaiting” more evidence before asking its ethics committee to investigate the allegations made in Britain’s parliament.

Blatter says the situation must be “clarified” by Friday, May 27. Five days later, Blatter stands for re-election against Qatari challenger Mohamed bin Hammam.
