Suspect in deadly Salem arson arrested in Mexico

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Salem police say that a 34-year-old woman wanted for a February fire that killed a 64-year-old man was arrested in Tijuana, Mexico on Wednesday night.

Police say that Shray Lynne Thompson set the fire at a Salem home that killed Robert Flores on February 18th. When firefighters arrived at the house that day, Flores was found unconscious in the upstairs room. A medical examiner’s autopsy showed that Flores died of smoke inhalation.

Police identified Thompson as the suspect. They did not say how. But added that she lived at the residence with Flores.

On Wednesday, Mexican authorities found Thompson and promptly deported her to San Diego.
