BLAKE ISLAND, Wash. (AP) — Two people are dead following separate scuba diving accidents Saturday in Puget Sound.

Authorities say 49-year-old Guy A. Snell died during a spearfishing trip with three companions off Blake Island.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson says a search was conducted including several vessels and about 40 Navy divers after Snell failed to surface.

The Seattle Times reports that his body was found about five hours after he went missing. The cause of death wasn’t immediately known.

Police say a 55-year-old Edmonds man died Saturday off Edmonds Dive Park.

Police were called about a diver who had been found unconscious in 30 feet of water. CPR was performed for about 45 minutes, but he could not be revived. His name was not released.
