FBI: 5.5 percent drop in violent crime

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The FBI says there was a 5.5 percent drop in the number of violent crimes last year in the United States compared to 2009 and a 2.8 percent decline in the number of property crimes.
Murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault all declined compared with data from 2009.
The bureau's preliminary statistics for last year are based on information from more than 13,000 law enforcement agencies.
