Dog walker critically injured near Sandy



SANDY, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say a woman who was walking her dog on Highway 211 south of Sandy was struck Monday afternoon by a pickup truck driven by a 15-year-old.

The 19-year-old woman, Stevie Rae Urwin of Sandy, was taken to Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center in critical condition.

Police say the 15-year-old driver, Neal A. Bieri of Sandy, has a provisional instruction permit. He was coming around a curve when he came upon the woman in the highway.

The dog ran off after the crash but was found and treated by a veterinarian.
