LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Japan has been cleared to host two volleyball World Cup events that serve as qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympics.

The International Volleyball Federation says it received “full assurances” from the Japanese government of the country’s recovery from the earthquake and tsunami in March, and ongoing nuclear power emergency.

The women’s World Cup will be played in seven venues from Nov. 4-18. The men will play Nov. 20-Dec. 4 in eight cities.

Each 12-nation tournament will qualify three teams for the London lineup.

Japan has hosted all the quadrennial World Cups since they became Olympic qualifiers in 1991.

The events were confirmed after the FIVB met with Japanese volleyball and television officials.
