DETROIT (AP) — Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Elliot Johnson has left a game against the Detroit Tigers with a sore left knee.
Johnson was thrown out stealing in the fifth inning Monday night and appeared to hit third base awkwardly. He limped off the field and was replaced in the lineup by Matt Joyce in the bottom of the inning.
Joyce entered in right field, with Ben Zobrist moving to second base and Sean Rodriguez shifting from second to shortstop.
Johnson entered the game hitting .250 with two homers.
