Letter: Join effort to end homelessness

Published:

Homelessness has grown significantly in Clark County over the past few years, according to the Clark County government official website. To help cut the numbers down, we must take the initiative to contribute to the organizations established to help those people and families in need.

I think it’s safe to say that most of us have seen these people on the corners with their signs for help and have never given them a second look, but why not? Maybe we think they have nothing better to do. That may be true, but some of these people have lost everything because of less than perfect circumstances.

I’ve recently looked into organizations in Clark County that help the homeless. Clark County’s Council for the Homeless at 360-993-9561 and the Share House at 360-695-7658, both in Vancouver, are great organizations that have many programs available to help those in need. There are many ways to help contribute, whether it be volunteering or donations. Homelessness is a growing epidemic, and we must take the time and effort to help support those in need or the homeless population will only keep getting bigger.
