Letter: Put end to charter distraction

I am writing to voice my concern about the upcoming decision regarding whether to proceed with the home rule charter/freeholders election and process. It seems somewhat offensive (to the voters) to be considering this in light of the three times it has been voted down in the past. And what about what this would cost? It’s an estimated $100,000. Here we are cutting critical services, education is suffering, and we want to launch an expensive process? Is no, no, no not enough?

I am not seeing any strong reason to do this here in Clark County at this time. I don’t see how the few counties that have done this are spectacularly better off. I am hoping that the three Clark County Commissioners have the vision and sense to end this process now and get back to important things that we need our leaders to be focusing on.
