SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Violent crime did not increase in four of the state’s five largest cities, with only Vancouver bucking the trend.
The FBI’s Uniform Crime Report for 2010 showed the total number of violent crimes dropping from 2009 in Seattle, Tacoma and Bellevue, and staying exactly the same in Spokane. But Vancouver, Wash., reported 671 violent crimes in 2010, up from 656 in 2009. There were no murders in that city last year, compared to six in 2009.
Seattle had 19 murders last year, down from 22 in 2009. But Tacoma saw murders jump from eight to 14 last year.
