ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Here’s essentially all you need to know about the Washington Redskins first training camp practice: The quarterbacks were John Beck and Ben Chappell. And there was no punter.

About 60 players were on the field Friday morning, or roughly two-thirds of the number allowed under the post-lockout rules. Veteran free agents such as Santana Moss, Barry Cofield and Donte’ Stallworth are expected to sign their contracts later in the day, but they won’t be allowed to practice until Aug. 4 — after a new collective bargaining agreement is ratified.

The Redskins do have all 12 draft picks present, including first-round linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, who agreed to terms late Thursday.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan says the team still plans to re-sign Rex Grossman to compete with Beck for the starting job.
