If you are thinking Rich Cho didn’t deserve to be fired so quickly by Paul Allen, consider the fate of Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti was fired as Chelsea head coach hours after Sunday’s conclusion of the English Premier League soccer season.
He led the club to the Premier League and FA Cup titles in 2010. In 2011, Chelsea (21-9-8) finished second, nine points behind Manchester United (23-4-11).
But that wasn’t good enough for owner Roman Abramovich.
He is looking for his seventh coach in the eight years he’s owned Chelsea. By comparison, Paul Allen seems easy to please.
Through a text message-based campaign, The Portland Timbers and American Red Cross are teaming up to raise funds to aid the victims of recent tornadoes in Joplin, Mo., and spring storms around the country.
Joplin is the hometown of Timbers midfielder and captain Jack Jewsbury. It and other parts of southwest Missouri were struck on Sunday by a tornado that killed more than 100 people. It was the deadliest single tornado in the United States since 1953.
Fans can text ‘REDCROSS’ to 90999 to donate $10 to help with the relief effort. The Red Cross will be on-hand to collect donations at Jeld-Wen Field on Sunday when the Timbers host D.C. United.
