COQUILLE, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to murder in the death of a woman who was sharing his camp trailer on the Oregon coast.

KEZI-TV in Eugene reports that 56-year-old Lawrence Ervin Schnagl appeared Wednesday morning in Coos County Circuit Court to enter the plea in the February death of 48-year-old Brenda Gammelgaard in Lakeside.

As part of his guilty plea, Schnagl withdrew his defense of extreme emotional disturbance.

At his request, the judge sentenced Schnagl after his plea. He must serve a minimum of 25 years before he will be eligible for parole.
