FORT RILEY, Kan. (AP) — Two soldiers from Fort Riley’s 1st Infantry Division have died in recent action in Iraq.

Sgt. 1st Class Clifford E. Beattie and Pfc. Ramon Mora Jr. were killed May 22 by a roadside bomb.

Army officials say Thursday the men were part of the division’s 1st Battalion, 63rd Armored Regiment of the 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team serving near Baghdad.

The 37-year-old Beattie, of Medical Lake, Wash., had been in the Army for 16 years and on his third Iraq deployment. He is survived by a wife and two children. He previously was a drill instructor at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Nineteen-year-old Mora, from Ontario, Calif., joined the Army in January 2010 and was on his first Iraq deployment.
