CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne says he’s had to accept that doctors don’t know what caused the symptoms that have kept him out of racing five weeks.

Bayne spent a week at the Mayo Clinic undergoing treatment for what doctors have called an inflammatory condition. The week was spent testing Bayne to see what was causing double vision and fatigue.

Bayne says the doctors ruled out many ailments, but have been unable to tell him what caused his symptoms.

The 20-year-old says he’s been symptom-free for a week. Roush Fenway Racing officials are holding him out of racing this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway as a precaution.

Bayne is scheduled to race again in the Nationwide race at Chicagoland next weekend.
