SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Senate has unanimously approved a bill to name a stretch of highway in honor of a Eugene police officer killed in the line of duty last month.

The bill approved Thursday will designate an urban stretch of Oregon Highway 126 between Eugene and Springfield as the “Officer Chris Kilcullen Memorial Highway.”

Kilcullen was shot and killed April 22 during a traffic stop in Springfield.

The bill was introduced by state senators from Lane County and now goes to the Oregon House for consideration.
