ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Washington Redskins coaches are siding with their owner — not the players — in the NFL’s labor dispute.

The Redskins released a statement Thursday signed by 17 assistant coaches. It says they stand united with their ownership and do not support a brief filed by the NFL Coaches Association.

The coaches’ association brief was filed Wednesday with the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. It expresses support for the players and says that the lockout is putting their jobs in jeopardy.

But the Redskins coaches say they weren’t consulted about the brief. They say they look forward to a new collective bargaining agreement and the resumption of football.
