KETTLE FALLS, Wash. (AP) — Two days of searching along the Kettle River in northeast Washington failed to find any sign of 14-year-old Laura Enquist, other than the life jacket she should have been wearing Wednesday when her canoe capsized.
Her 11-year-old brother Joseph was wearing a life jacket and made it to shore near Kettle Falls.
Stevens County Sheriff Kendle Allen says hope of finding Laura alive is fleeting and the search Friday is scaled back.
