Letter: President is missing during crises

The Columbian
Published: May 26, 2011, 5:00pm

Evidently President Obama is not aware of or cares about the conditions or problems his country is experiencing while he is guzzling Irish brews in Ireland and touring the world.

People are dying in floods and tornadoes. Others are experiencing financial problems with difficulty feeding and clothing their families while Nero fiddles while Rome burns. Is this the qualities of a great leader? I believe not. It is more like an AWOL president.

The mainstream media crucified President George W. Bush for not acting immediately when our country was hit by Katrina. However, he remained in his country and assisted and visited the conditions caused by this disaster. When has Obama visited or shown concern for our disaster victims?

Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again. The upcoming presidential election will provide an opportunity to rectify this mistake.
