SEATTLE (AP) — Reliever Shawn Kelley has had a setback in his recovery from modified Tommy John surgery that will sideline the Seattle Mariners right-hander for at least a month.

The Mariners said Kelley was injected with platelet rich plasma in his right elbow Friday by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. Kelley was in the middle of a rehab assignment with Double-A Jackson when he experienced discomfort in his pitching elbow. Kelley had pitched in three games with Jackson, giving up four hits in four innings.

Kelley had surgery on his pitching elbow last September. He is expected back in Seattle on Saturday and will be monitored by the Mariners medical staff.
