DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Tigers optioned rookie reliever Adam Wilk to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, opening a roster spot for newly acquired reliever David Purcey.
Wilk made his major league debut Thursday, pitching 3 2-3 scoreless innings against Boston. He is expected to return to Toledo’s starting rotation.
Purcey was acquired Friday in a trade with Oakland, and will pitch out of the bullpen for the Tigers. He started the season with Toronto, meaning he has been in all three American League divisions before Memorial Day.
