SESTRIERE, Italy (AP) — Alberto Contador remains comfortably in front at the Giro d’Italia with one stage left.

Vasili Kiryienka of Belarus won the 20th leg Saturday, riding solo most of the way. Contador finished eighth, 5 minutes, 58 seconds behind Kiryienka. The Spaniard maintained his lead of 5:18 over Italy’s Michele Scarponi in the overall standings.

Kiryienka was part of a large breakaway group before attacking on the day’s first climb. He completed the 150-mile route from Verbania to Sestriere in 6 hours, 17 minutes, 2 seconds. Jose Rujano was second, 4:43 behind. Joaquin Rodriguez was third in 4:49.

The 21-stage Giro ends Sunday with a time trial in Milan.
