SEATTLE (AP) — A Seattle-bound truck and driver with a cargo of Russian king crab worth $400,000 have disappeared, and industry officials say it was part of a well-organized scam.

The Seattle Times reports that industry officials say a man posed as a legitimate truck driver — with documents and credentials — before leaving Los Angeles with 25,000 pounds of crab on May 20. He was last heard from by dispatchers this past Monday, where he claimed to be in Oregon.

But Andrew Feoktistov of Vitan Enterprises, which owned the crab, says no one knows where the crab went.

Ben Kozloff of International Seafoods Venture of Seattle says that stealing truckloads of seafood are not uncommon, with gun-point hijackings and stolen lobster tails.
