Donald wins at Wentworth, becomes No. 1 golfer

VIRGINIA WATER, England (AP) -- Luke Donald has become golf's top-ranked player after winning the BMW PGA Championship in a playoff against incumbent No. 1 Lee Westwood.
The duel for No. 1 between the Englishmen ended in the playoff at No. 18. Donald landed his approach shot within a few feet of the hole, while Westwood lost any chance when he sent his shot into a water hazard.
Westwood forced the playoff with a final round, 3-under 68 on Sunday. Donald, the co-leader with Matteo Manassero entering the final round, shot a 70.
