Letter: House budget plan full of flaws

The Columbian

Town hall meetings across the country brought out thousands of Americans who oppose the recent budget passed by the U. S. House of Representatives. The 3rd District’s own Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, voted for decimating Medicare and Medicaid and for giving $1 trillion in new tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans. If that is what you voted for last November for the struggling 3rd District, I congratulate you. Herrera Beutler is rewarding her corporate contributors quite well.

Approximately 45,000 Americans die each year because they don’t get to a doctor or hospital in time. What Herrera Beutler voted for would expand those numbers. (And you thought that she was “pro-life.”) Herrera Beutler’s solution to insure the 50 million people in this country that don’t have any medical insurance? Cross state lines and buy cheap medical insurance with astronomical deductibles and co-pays. That is a “Republicon” talking point right from Fox News. Herrera Beutler is a career politician who mimics Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio and Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., and the rest who are in corporations’ hip pocket. We need better for our district and our country.
