LONDON (AP) -- London's mayor says he's giving local officials about $2.7 million to decorate the capital ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games.
Boris Johnson says that each of London's 33 boroughs will get 50,000 pounds to dress key areas with flags, banners and bunting. The exact nature of the decorations has yet to be determined. The mayor's office said in a statement Tuesday that individual boroughs would submit their own proposals.
The cash handout is part of an effort to showcase the British capital ahead of next summer's games. The statement added that the city's top tourist attractions would also see Olympics-related revamps.
