PHOENIX (AP) — Infielder Willie Bloomquist has declined his end of a $1.1 million mutual option for 2012 with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The 33-year-old signed with Arizona before the season and became the everyday shortstop when Stephen Drew broke his ankle on July 20. Bloomquist hit .266 with four homers and 26 RBIs in 97 games.

The Diamondbacks exercised their end of mutual options with Bloomquist and catcher Henry Blanco on Monday, while declining options on second baseman Aaron Hill and left-hander Zach Duke. Arizona is still hoping to re-sign Hill.

Right-hander Jason Marquis and infielders John McDonald, Xavier Nady and Lyle Overbay opted for free agency over the weekend.
