Mobile home fire
Fire destroyed a mobile home Tuesday in the Vista Del Rio senior manufactured home park in Vancouver’s Fisher’s Landing area.
The fire was reported around 1:35 p.m. at 17401 S.E. 39th St., Space 202. Firefighters arrived on scene around 1:43 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, every window in the home was black, indicating there was a great deal of heat and smoke in the home, said Vancouver Fire Capt. Kevin Murray. Firefighters adopted a defensive strategy because of the proximity of other mobile homes, he added.
No one was found inside the residence.
The building and contents were destroyed, with damage estimated at $100,000, Murray said
The cause remained undetermined Tuesday night after fire marshals interviewed a man who lived there.
The smoke and firefighter activity drew many neighborhood residents outside to see what was going on.
Katie White lives around the block from the burnt home. She said she saw white smoke in the area when looking out her window. When it didn’t go away she knew there was a problem, she said.
“There’s never been a fire here,” said neighbor Janie Hendrickson.
Units from Vancouver, Camas and Washougal responded to the blaze.
County property records indicate the home is owned by Nadine Hull.
