Port Angeles newspaper sold to Black Press Ltd.

PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — The Port Angeles daily newspaper, the Peninsula Daily News, has been sold to Black Press Ltd. of Victoria, British Columbia.

The paper will be printed on its Sound Publishing press in Everett. Twenty press and mail room employees in Port Angeles will be laid off Nov. 14.

Black Press also announced Monday that it has purchased Olympic View Publishing Co., which owns the Sequim Gazette and Forks Forum weekly papers.

The Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/rJ5C6u ) Black Press Vancouver Island division President Mark Warner told a gathering in the newsroom Monday he liked the local content and circulation. The paper sells close to 15,000 editions on weekdays and 16,000 on Sundays. It doesn’t publish on Saturdays.
