GENEVA (AP) — Swiss speed specialist Nadja Kamer will miss upcoming World Cup ski races in North America after injuring her left knee playing volleyball.

Kamer was shaping up as a threat to Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso in downhills next month at Lake Louise, Alberta. She had three top-three finishes in 2010.

The Swiss ski federation says Kamer strained knee ligaments on Monday.

Kamer is the second Swiss Alpine racer to be injured playing ball this season. World juniors medalist Justin Murisier will miss the whole season after tearing a ligament in his right knee playing soccer.
