Brush Prairie — The Brush Prairie and Hockinson areas have taken a big step toward incorporating as a new Clark County town: They’ve combined forces. There’s no longer a Concerned Citizens of Hockinson Neighborhood Association; now there’s a Greater Brush Prairie Neighborhood Association. Holly Gaya, the county’s neighborhood association coordinator, said there’s been no organized Hockinson group in several years, so packing that area in with the busier, livelier Brush Prairie group means more active communication for Hockinson citizens. Ray Steiger, a member of the Brush Prairie group, said the expanded neighborhood association includes 11,700 people in approximately 30 square miles. Steiger said this move is intended to keep momentum toward the incorporation of a new town moving forward. The president of the group remains Sam Kim and the complicated, expanded boundaries are: On the south, Northeast 119th Street to state Highway 503 to 99th Street to 96th Street; on the east, 212th Avenue; on the north, 159th Street, 156th Street, Salmon Creek, 503 north to the Battle Ground city boundary to 199th Street, 187th Avenue and 219th Street; west, 72nd Avenue.
